Heaven & Hell in Irvine on October 6th 2007
By Jose "Diablo"

It was a night of classic metal in Irvine with Queensryche, Alice Cooper, and Heaven & Hell rocking the house. Queensryche kicked off the night of ass kicking metal with a short but very good set. Their set consisted of many fan favorites like "Empire" and "Jet City Woman". Towards the end of their set, they played a cover of Pink Floyd’s "Welcome to the Machine", which will appear on their upcoming cover album entitled "Take Cover". I have to say, their cover sounded very good, and Geoff Tate even played a saxophone. Geoff’s voice still sounds amazing and is still one of the best voices in metal today.
Alice Cooper then hit the stage with his crazy stage show, playing songs like "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Poison". Alice Cooper has the reputation of being the "Bad Guy" of metal. His career has been full of controversy because of his stage antics. Alice went as far as sacrificing a baby right on stage during "Billion Dollar Babies". Later on during his set, he was put in a straight jacket then hung. What a show, I now can see why his career has been filled with controversy, and why parents were scared to let their kids go to an Alice Cooper show. Alice ended his set with the song "Elected" where he waved an American flag and sang "I want to be elected". All I got to say is Cooper in ’08!
The night of metal was capped off by the legendary Heaven & Hell. They began their set with "Mob Rules" and "Children of the Sea". For the next hour and a half they blew the fans away with songs like "Voodoo" and "Die Young". H&H then went into their signature song "Heaven & Hell" which was extended by a mind blowing guitar solo by legendary guitarist Toni Iommi. I think Toni Iommi is one of the best guitarists in the world today, and can still shred with the best of them. Geezer Butler also shredded on the bass throughout the night, and is also one of the best bassists around today. At the end of their set, local radio DJ Full Metal Jackie, came out on stage and presented Heaven & Hell with plaques in honor of their latest CD/DVD "Live form Radio City Music Hall" going gold. After receiving this honor, the guys picked up their instruments one last time to cap off the night with "Neon Knights".
Overall it was a great night of ass kicking metal. The fans at the packed Verizon Wireless Amphitheater loved every minute of it. Queensryche was great, and played a lot of fan favorites. Alice Cooper was shocking, but in a good way, and Heaven & Hell was amazing and blew me away. I hope this isn’t the last time we hear from them. I hope they decide to get together for another U.S tour soon.
